Cherry Heaven

Hey yall! I hope everyone is doing well! This recipe was passed on to me from a very dear friend.

Mrs. Maggie is known for her big hugs, warm smile, and the best gumbo ever! Mrs. Maggie’s recipes are easy, quick, and always taste like you spent hours in the kitchen. We will keep the easy part to ourselves; never tell your secrets to your guest! This dessert is very rich and I recommend serving with coffee or milk.

You will need:

1 Egg yolk
2 Cans of cherry pie filling
3 Cans of crescent rolls
2 Packs of cream cheese
1/2 Cup sugar
3 Tbsp melted butter
1 Cup of powdered sugar

1 Pyrex baking dish greased
Preheat oven at 350 degrees.

Alright yall, let's get to cooking! First, you are going to roll out one can of crest rolls in the bottom of the baking dish and press the seams together.

Next, combine the cream cheese, egg yolk, and sugar together and cream until smooth. Now you are going to smooth the cream cheese mixture over the crescent rolls. After the cream cheese is smooth, spoon the canned cherry pie filling on top of the cream cheese. It is very important that you do not mix the cherry pie filling with the cream cheese.

Now you are ready to add the top layer of crescent rolls. This step is where you can get creative. You want to cover the entire top with a crescent roll layer. You can roll out the crescent rolls and create whatever shapes and designs you would like to make. Once covered, brush melted butter atop. Now this baby is ready to go in the oven. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.

I like to make a quick sugar glaze to dress up the top of the dessert. To do this, combine the powdered sugar and water until you get the consistency that you want. Once your dessert has cooled, place the glaze atop.

This dessert is also great cold. When the dessert is chilled, it will form nicely and make for easy eating. You can cut into little squares and serve as a finger dessert.

I hope yall enjoy this yummie!

See you in the kitchen!
